NEW DELHI: : Another protester ends life at borders of Delhi, where farmers from several states are agitating against Modi government’s anti-farmer agri-marketing laws for a month now. The latest victim has been identified as Adv Amarjit Singh.
Amarjit killed himself at Thikri border and left behind a note addressed to the Prime Minister. He referred to PM as ‘dictator’ in the letter and accused him of turning a blind eye to the protest meant for food to people. The suicide is in protest of such callousness, Amarjit said in his letter.
Amarjit’s death marks the third suicide since the protests began early this month. A member of Jalalbad Bar Association, Amarjit has been at the protest venue for several days.
Earlier, a priest from Haryana Gurudwara , Baba Ram Singh, had committed suicide after participating in the protest. The government to do justice to farmers, Baba Singh had said before ending his life. A 22-year-old farmer who had returned from the protests, was first to lay life for the cause.
