Iritty :  In the latest instance of disillusionment with Congress and BJP, several workers from both parties in Kannur’s Iritty quit their camps to join CPI(M). The district secretary MV Jayarajan welcomed the incomers comprising BJP’s Ayumkunnu Panchayat Committee president, Madhavan Karkunal; members from Congress’s headload workers’ union(INTUC) in Vallithodu - Ajeesh Vattathara, wife Shiji Vattathara, KJ Amritesh and Aam Aadmi Party leader Shobi Poomuttathil.

The new members said they resigned over frustrations with activities of their parities - BJP and Congress - that increasingly conflicted with covid-mitigation and public health initiatives set in motion by the ruling Left government and CPI(M).

The brief  function, in conformation with Covid protocol, was presided by District Committee member K Sreedharan. Speakers at the meeting included DC members Valsan Panoli and CV Sashidharan and Area Secretary Binoi Kurien.
