Palakkad :In an atmosphere brimming with memories of martyr Shajahan and amid sloganeering from thousands of party workers, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayanhanded over monetary aid to his bereaved family in Palakkad. The aid comprising Rs 35 lakhs, garnered by Puthusseri Area Committee was given at a public meeting venue outside Chandranagar Parvathi auditorium after discourses protesting communal extremism.
CPI(M) Puthusseri Area Secretary Subhash Chandrabose presided over the vent. Minister MB Rajesh, CPI(M) Central Committee member AK Balan, District Secretary ENSureshbabu, State Committee members CK Rajendran, NN Krishnadas, District Secretaries A Prabhakaran and P Mamikutty, District Committee members K Binumol, Nithin Kunnucheri were present at the function.
Marutha Road Local Secretary, KB Muralidharan delivered the welcome note and Puthusseri Area Committee members Unnikrishnan Nandi the vote of thanks.
Backdrop : On the night before last Independence Day, around 9.30 pm, a gang of criminal elements of RSS – BJP hacked Local Committee member, Kottecaud Kunnakode Shajahan to death. The motive - Shajahan ‘s resistance to drug activity by ganja mafia operated by RSS men in the area.
