Pathanamthitta : Sixteen families in Pathanamthitta’s Pumarathakuzhy, snapped ties with Congress in protest of the brutal killings in Venjaramoodu and joined CPI(M). Some of these individuals have been long-serving activists and held leadership positions in Congress. However, as protests raged across communities in protest of the gruesome murders of DYFI workers, Haq Muhammad and Mithiraj on the eve of, these individuals , out of humane considerations, gave up their longstanding alliance with the party to forge links with CPI(M).
The new comers include Ambili, the woman leader from Mahila Congress in Kulathoor’s Pumaruthakuzhy , who has been an active member of the party for a very long time. All of her family living in Pathanapuram have left their Congress links behind.
In the protest organized by CPI(M) Branch in Pumarathykuzhi, CPI(M) District Secretary, KP Udayabanu, welcomed the new members with red garlands. Others present at the occasion include Area Committee member S Rajesh, Raghu Ollikkal and Kulathur Panchayat president, Manoj.
