THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : In the past four years on coming to power, the Left government has made unparalleled strides for the furtherance and wellbeing of its expatriate community. Here’s a brief look-back on the various endeavours, apart from Loka Sabha, toward that goal :

 

ð   Disaster Solace Fund : Govt set aside  Rs 53.29 crore for  families of expats  facing financial or health distress.

 

ð  Support For Self-employment : Rehabilitation of Return Emigrants (NDPREM)  launched . Rs 35.06 crore disbursed in subsidies to 2,636 overseas returnees so far.

 

ð  Skill Up-gradation and Re-integration Programme, Robotic Process Automation, Data Science and Analytics courses  launched.

 

ð  Awareness campaign for safeguard against illegal recruitment and visa frauds.

 

ð  Live chats, SMS and phone calls for complaints and grievances on 0091 8802012345

 

ð  Arrangements made jointly with IIMU for reaching sick expats or bodies of the dead back to Kerala.

 

ð  Seek justice in mother tongue : Law cells set up in outside countries for free lawyer services.

 

ð  Invest for homeland : Encouraging schemes to promote investments in Kerala.

 

ð  Rs 1.40 core for setting up Loka Kerala in Mavelikkara, to reach Kerala heritage, culture and  art forms across the globe.

ð  Study Scholarship : Money aid towards higher education for children from poor backgrounds.

 

ð  Monthly income until death : NRI’s too can become policy holders to the scheme.

 

ð  United Identification Card : Insurance of up to Rs 2 lakh for those joining the scheme

 

ð  Discounted air tickets  on Oman airlines

 

ð  Free return journey for those receiving amnesty
